The dresser is a staple of almost any bedroom, but even these stalwart pieces are subject to wear and tear. When it comes time to ditch a dresser, whether because it’s past its prime or because you’re redesigning your room’s look, don’t take your old dresser straight to the thrift store. You might be able to give it new life with a different job!
An old dresser is a great candidate to be repurposed into a vanity. It’s actually pretty easy to retrofit a vessel sink into a dresser, and it will give your bathroom a unique new look. Dressers also make great kitchen islands thanks to their plentiful storage space and the flat surface on top. You can even upgrade it with a granite top or butcher block. If the bulk of the dresser isn’t worth keeping, though, you can still get some mileage out of the drawers. Just pull them out and mount them on the wall for a cool shadow-box effect! If nothing else though, you can always bring an old dresser outside and use it as a tiered plant display. The drawers are perfect for holding a collection of potted plants, or they can themselves be filled with soil to create a larger planter!
