The bedroom is a place that should be dedicated to rest, but it is all too commonly used as a dumping ground. Things that need repairing, clothes that need returning, and anything else that doesn’t have a home of its own tends to end up in the bedroom. But if you can change your sleeping quarters back into a more relaxing space, you might find yourself getting a better night’s sleep than ever before.
For example, instead of keeping clutter like deodorant and lotion on top of your dresser, give these items a home in a drawer to clean things up. Even a plastic bin or tray can help get rid of unsightly clutter. If you store things under your bed, try to use large containers that you can easily take out and clean once a month or so so that you’re not collecting dust bunnies.
If you love to read in bed, you should be using bedside lamps or wall sconces to do so. Not only do these items lend your room a more finished look, but they’ll also do a better job of helping your body transition to sleep than the harsh overhead lights.
