You bedroom should be as tranquil and relaxing as possible. It’s the place you go to rest and recharge after a hard day’s work. Still, 60% of people report weekly sleep problems, and that might be a sign of people not treating their bedroom quite right. Here are a few things you should remove from your bedroom before they start affecting your sleep!
You probably already know, for example, that your technology can wreak havoc on your ability to get a good night’s rest. The artificial light given off by your laptop, tablet, or TV results in less melatonin production, which makes it much tougher to fall asleep. Even charging your device can hurt your sleep, especially if your charger emits blue light. Blue wavelengths are “potent” light that can hurt your circadian rhythm, so charge your phone somewhere else or plug it in during the day.
You might not know, however, that something as common as a heavy or even electric blanket might be causing your sleep problems. Being warm and cozy might sound nice, the reality is that higher body temperatures disrupt sleeping patterns. You’d be better off with a lightweight sheet or bedspread.
